I am looking into getting a new camera...

I have narrowed it down to either a Canon G10
or a Canon SX1 ????

The canon SX1 has full HD video and 10 mega pixels,
28mm lens.

The G10 is 14.7 mega pixels but no HD video, 28mm lens.

So I guess it boils down to mega pixels or HD video!

Any thoughts????

I haven't seen reviews of the SX1 but the G9 and now the G10 get constantly high praise from divers all over.

It's tempting, though, to go with HD video as it will be a huge difference in quality between the video produced by the g10 and the SX1...

Are the housing the same price?

The housing of choice would be an Ikelite,
the Canon housing I am using now is great
but the shutter button gets stuck down
@65'ft! An easy fix with a swap of a
spring but I don't think I will play these
games with a $500-$600 camera, the
Ikelite housings are all priced about the
same. The only difference is the housing
for the G10 has only 1 handle vs 2 on the
housing for the sx1....

Hands down the G10. Why, you can shoot in the RAW format. RAW is the format of choice for pros basically it allows you unlimited post shot processing. I also think you can get the second handle from ikelite if you really want it. Regards

The SX1 also has RAW format...

I just found out that the gray market SX1 does not support RAW,
but the US version will.

Thanks for the tip, they had the housings
for about $50 bucks cheaper and they
ship for free! :)

Still the G10 is a kick @ss camera, but
I like video as well... The SX1 has macro
video @ 1920x1024!!!

I was going to get a polaroid...
but they were out of stock!!! :o
