WOW The bat rays sure are out in force today. I came
across 4 large females:) Also the highlight of the
dive was upon entry before donning fins I found an egg
casing. It was the spiral shaped kind, I think horn
shark or swell, any one know for sure? Any hoo my
friend Paul and I decided it was best to relocate it
as there were lot's of crazy kids at the beach today,
who knows what may have become of the little guy/girl.
So I carefully placed it in Paul pocket until we
descended, then I removed it and swam carefully to the
edge of the canyon around main point. I then found a
hole in the canyon that look as if it could wedge in
nicely. I put it in as careful as I could and wished
the little baby shark all the best luck. Hope that
wasn't an octopus hole:0 Okay ok dive report, put in
north of boat launch around 11:00am. Waves 1-2ft windy
but the swim out was easy peasy. Murky in the shallows
but nice beyond 50ft. Cruised north towards the
plateau. One baby horn shark, a very large rockfish,
sheepshead, starfish, dendronotus iris and a few san
diego dorids. There were some murky areas I blame the
bat rays. But for the most part a very nice dive.
Plenty of life out today. oh yeah did I mention all
the bat rays he he?? I do believe It's time to invest
in a camera as the action out there is gettin juicy.
See y'all out there bubble wubble heads. ps no temp
gauge but the water is toasty down to about 60ft then
it dropped a bit. I think I actually could see the
temp changing as I swam through the thermocline, you
know like when the BBQ is on and the heat puts off
those squiggly lines. yup that was it, cool!
