Hi all just wanted to share my first experience on the
p-38. Went out on a private charter to the p-38 off
Torrey pines. We couldn't have had better conditions.
BLUE BLUE BLUE!!! We could see the plane from 80fsw.
Gigantic rock fish the size of groupers! No I wasn't
narced:) There was a huge 4ft sheephead patrolling the
area as well. Didn't see the famous wolf eels though.
I could not believe how great the viz was, at least
30ft. It was in about 130fsw, total dive time 21
minutes. It is a fully intact plane with the cock pit
entirely intact, just covered in life. A must see for
sure. Then we headed over to the Ruby for a night
dive. Also a first for me at night. Again great viz:)
I turned my light off at one point and watched the
lights from other divers on the other side beaming
through the wreck, wow what a sight! Also some
bioluminescence present, very cool. I highly recommend
this night dive. A little cold but worth it. There
were crabs crawling about and painted greenlings
sleeping here and there. I seen a blacksmith counting
sheep in a little hole. Also lot's of lobters with
their beaming red eyes crawling about. I feel like a
kid after Christmas:) This was amazing! Hope
conditions at the shores today were just as nice, see
y'all out there:)
