Hey Trippers. Three tanker to the Islands today on the Humboldt. Above surface conditions rocked, sun was shining a nice breeze was blowing, just a beautiful day. Below not as good as we have become accustomed to but nothing I would call bad. First spot was Keyhole, surface temps were 55 to 58, vis was really weird. You could see easily see to the thermocline and that was about it, temp dropped to 49-51 on my computer. Vis was probaly 25 horizontally better in some spots worse in others. Lots of life and some of the biggest 2-3 ft kelp bass I have ever seen out there. Had a school of Barracuda cruise past, will have to review the video to see if any of it came out. One of the coolest eels I have encountered Surge was up and moved you around pretty good but always took you back to where you started.
Dive 2 and 3 where at Lobster shack. Conditions there were very weird. Lots of blurryness is the only way I can describe it. I dont know if the thermocline was causing it or if there was fresh water seeping out from the island. Made for a very intersting day. The sea lions were not at all playful. Saw only one actually swimming. Had a hard time finding any eels or octopuses today. Just seemed very devoid of acitive life. Here are some of the pictures. Enjoy! And as always, Big Thank Yous to the crew of the Humboldt and all at Waterhorse Charters.

That looks like one very serious eel....
