Howdy there. I took two divers on a discover locale diving tour this afternoon. Conditions were excellent! A little surgy in the shallows but the canyon was blue and beautiful. We started out around valecitos point and cruised along the wall north until we reached that wonderful platue. The fish are out and about again. I spotted quite a few female sheeps head. Guess they are finally out of hiding. Some juvi blacksmiths, those are always a treat, they look so tropical. The octopus that normally inhabit the area around vallecitos have had to relocate it seems due to the major collapsing of the wall. They looked out of place in what seemed to be their new homes. One of them was so big he couldn't fit in his hole. Lot's of gobies out agian and the occasional rock fish. The viz in the canyon today was about 30ft and 10-15 in the shallows. The water wasn't too nippy either. 59 on the surface with no noticable thermocline. Max depth 64ft, dive time 44minutes. This must have been the calm before the storm as it was a stellar dive day. The swell reports say it will be large sunday and monday,7-9 feet but it should subside for tuesday. Two whole days without diving what will I do!!! Well that sums it up trippers see ya out there.

I did a dive this morning at the Canyon as well in and around the same spot. We saw a nice big California Scorpionfish on the 2nd ledge at around 60'. I love shinning my light on them and watching their eyes reflect back to give a glowing effect, a common trait for a nocturnal preditor giving them "night vision". Their eyes look like they are on fire. The lucky diver I was with thought it was pretty cool too. After that I did a kayak tour and saw the swell picking up against the caves.
